Band Lasts

With winter break starting, I have been reflecting on all the lasts I have already experienced with the Kennedy band program. During July I completed my final Summer band class. Summer band has a special place in my heart, I was a little freshman intimidated by a new school, new teacher, and new friends (all upper class man too). Looking back on it now, it is crazy to think that 4 years has gone by so fast.

The next major event was the BOG retreat in October. With this being my second band retreat, the nostalgia from sophomore year washed over me. Over the years I have grown to love this group, both new faces and old, and it was sad to experience this for the last time.

Finally, both fall parade and concert season have come to an end. On November 6th I celebrated my last veterans Parade down in Auburn WA. The parade was shorter then I remember but still an amazing experience. Similarly, the winter concert was held last week with the drumline supporting the other bands and composing our own piece titled “Trashy Christmas”. (It was made up of trash cans, lids, and bells)

Band has been an amazing, funny, sometimes scary, and ultimately rewarding experience. I am excited to close this chapter and see what the rest of the year has in store.
